ODOT Teen (15-17) and 18 + Program

REDMOND CLASSES

The teen program consists of classroom hours and behind-the-wheel hours. Classroom hours are 3 hours long twice a week Mondays and Tuesdays in Redmond.  Behind the wheel is once a week - see drive schedule for available drive times before registration.  At the end of the course, DMV will waive the drive test to get a license (15-17 yrs old).  If you are 18+ year old taking the course a DMV drive test is required after completion.  Important! Please look at your student schedule before signing up. It is a 6 week course and all classes/drives must be attended. It is a 2-3 day a week commitment schedule.  Life is busy so reach out to Linda if your student will need to miss a class/drive from school/sport events before signing up so she can accommodate make-up schedules. 

Students must have a valid instruction driver permit issued from the DMV to attend the course. 

• 30 hours of classroom instruction
• 6 hours behind-the-wheel training
• 6 hours rear seat observation 

REQUIRED:  Mandatory parent meeting is held on the first day of class. This meeting must be attended by a parent, legal guardian, or supervising adult with the student. For the first hour we will cover the ODOT program requirements, traffic safety information, policies, procedures, and curriculum. After the first hour of orientation, students will remain and complete their first day of class.  (18 + year old parent meeting not required)

• Mondays and Tuesdays 4:30-7:30 in REDMOND 
• Classroom time consists of textbook concepts, activities, and guest speakers.
• Textbook - will be provided
• 9 chapter tests and 1 final exam
• Grades are Pass/Fail with 30 hours class time and a overall score of 80% or better
• Students must attend all classroom hours.  Any absences/missed coursework must be made up within 15 days of the end of the term.

• Behind the wheel training is intended to apply the skills following classroom instruction. Routes that are used have been specifically designed to implement learned concepts and to challenge the student. Students are evaluated and instructed with feedback for the week drive.
• 6 hours of behind the wheel training per student with instructor and student observer     (6th drive is the final test drive)
• 6 hours of rear seat observation with student partner driving
• 5 hours of supervised home practice drives (requires a form to be completed each week and returned the following week for instructor to initial)
• Grading - students must demonstrate the ability to perform critical driving tasks
• All PRNDL vehicles are dual control, 2023 Vehicles

6 hours of back seat observation

15-17 and 18 + year old - $720.00. 

ADDITIONAL FEES

$25 Missed Drive fee - less than 24 hour notice or a NO SHOW

$40.00 Re-test/assessment (30 days beyond the 6th drive)

REFUNDS

Refunds in full are available until the end of the first class. After the first class no refunds are available. 

COURSE FAILURES AND REPEATS

Classroom and Final drive assessment failures can be retaken within 180 days from the courses original start date. Arrangements will be made depending on individual circumstances.

NO BEND classes location at this time only Redmond location is available.  PRNDL is renting an amazing facility located in downtown Redmond at Redmond Proficiency Academy-RPA.
